Last month I shared a post from Elizabeth Chao comparing motherhood and singleness.  In her post To the barren one, Elizabeth sensitively reflects on the pain of those who are without children but desperately long to the a Mum.  She asks the question what do we do with the time while we are wrestling with a unfulfilled desire.

What do we do when God seems absent and he doesn't seem to be answering our prayers?  Is it because God really is absent or is it something wrong with our perception? Jon Bloom, President of Desiring God, helpfully addresses this issue in his post When God seems silent.  He says this, "In reality, God wasn't absent or silent or indifferent at all toward Job or King David.  It's just how it felt to that at the time...When we feel forsaken by God we are not forsaken.  We are simply called to trust the promise more than the perception".
