Let's talk about sex - resources

Off the back the brunch here are a selection of books, blogs and sermons which are helpful and cover some of the issues we touched on.  If you have any other resources which you'd recommend, please email womenatchaarlotte@gmail.com.

Mark and Grace Driscoll's book 'Real Marriage' has a helpful section on sex.  Mark also preached sermon series on the Peasant Princess which brought up dozens of questions they felt they should respond to.  The result was this blog series - Christian Sex: Frank Answers to Honest Questions.  They suggest under 17's speak to a parent before reading.

John Piper has also preached two sermon which are definitely worth setting aside some time to listen to.  They are Sex and the single person and Sexual relations in marriage.

God's design for Sex series by Stann and Brenna Jones is a series of book designed to help parents start conversations with their children.  There are four books covering age appropriate topics.

In Passion and Purity, Elizabeth Elliot guides singles of both genders and of any age on how to put their love lives under the authority of Jesus Christ.  Passion and Purity covers dating issues such as: how to know which person is the right one to marry; loving passionately while remaining sexually pure; the man's and woman's role in relationships; putting God's desires ahead of personal desires; how far is too far, physically.  Based on stories, journal entries, and letters chronicling her own five-year courtship with Jim Elliot, Elisabeth gives frank advice, scriptural directives, and compassionate examples of what it means to follow Christ in the midst of heartache and impatience.

Finally, two books about pornography.  Firstly, HELP! She's Struggling with Pornography redefines pornography in biblical terms and explores its dangers, including those of the socially acceptable forms particularly alluring to women. Learn how the Bible exposes the heart of the problem and provides abundant hope for freedom.  When Your Husband is Addicted to Pornography written by Vicki Tiede, from personal experience, gently guides women toward God and away from despair. Through daily readings and questions on six important topics: hope, surrender, trust, identity, brokenness, and forgiveness, you will grow in healing and hope.
